An apology

narconut's picture

I wanted to apologize anyone i affended in my last forum topic entitled "Huh?"

I may have been a bit harsh.

It's just really frustrating living in a world with everyone back in forth insulting others for their veiws, and i guess what i am trying to say is that i felt insulted because i felt my liberties as a United States citizen were being attacked by other people with differing political veiw points.

I know that I come into foreign territory here when it comes to politics and i should respect that, infact i should respect all free speach eventhough i do not agree with it because that is what our country is built on.

Lastly, I think we should all be thankful that we live in a country where free speech is allowed, unlike the Iraqis and Afghans where their political leaders are dictators

Peace to all, and I hope there are no other future qualms.

It's like that one quote: "I

It's like that one quote: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it." Not too sure who said that and I probably butchered the wording of it, but you can understand the meaning. Peace.

you know...

The dubya administration sort of forgot about that one when they passed the patriot act and other post-9/11 legislation.

It was Voltaire, by the way. "I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

How's that for a little hyperbole? Say what you like, but don't expect to see me on the front lines of the new gulf war anytime soon, okay?

still don't understand

I understand that you have the right to say what you want but that goes both ways. I don't belive that its fair for you to claim that you're free speech rights were being attacked because others use their right to freely respond to what you post.

Did anyone actually stop you from posting or did people make you feel uncomfortable because they didn't like what you were saying?

An Apology?

Offense? People who take offence to everything, take the world too seriously. My mantra has been and will always continue to be to LAUGH. Without a sense of humor, one wallows in the pit of nihilism. Laughter is the key to life. You should never apologize for the way you think.

thats not what i meant, humor

thats not what i meant, humor has allways been a very big part of the jewish cilture. many jews have been known to maintain their sence of humor through even the worst of trageties. i was just pointing out that i was always taught that veiw point at hebrew school and it is a veiw point that i associate with my jewish identity.

I saw a t-shirt

I probably only noticed it because it was on a hot girl, but it said "Everyone has a Right to my Opinion" I found it extremely humourous, even though I didn't agree with it.
