Wow! What a weekend! Actually, that's an outright lie. :-P
So first things started off on Friday, when I got to work. Nothing special there, and I didn't walk away with a whole lot of money. But I had a good time and it was relatively unstressful, so that's almost worth its value in money.
On Saturday, I went and had the most quaint breakfast with one of the guys in the chorus. It turns out that we have much more in common than we both realized, so that's always cool. After breakfast, he went to go work out and I went to get ready for work....
...ahhh yes, back at work again. Last night was a bit more interesting. You see, people like to come to my restaurant and celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, and all that sort of stuff. Well last night, this family of about 20 come in to celebrate a gentleman's 70th birthday. I didn't particularly care much for the lady that was in charge of the party, as she was a penny-pincher and a little on the cold side. But, I deal with people I don't like everyday, so I didn't think anything of it.
So we did our usual birthday celebration, complete with music and singing. Everybody seemed to have a really good time, so I felt good about the whole thing. I was still pissed off that the lady didn't want to spend a little extra money, but hey, what are ya gonna do?
So while I was talking with my (absolutely adorable) busser, the lady comes up to me. She thanked me for making it a special birthday for her husband and her family. The lady went on to tell me that just this week, they found out that her husband was diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive form of cancer (this is when she starts to cry), and that they weren't sure how much longer he was going to be around.
When someone tells you something like that, it has the tendancy to change the way you look at them. Luckily, I was never rude to them, so I don't feel badly about my behavior, just the things that I thought about them. I sure felt like an ass, that's for sure. But I suppose in the end, they all had a good time, and that's the most important part.
The rest of the night was a breeze, so yay for that!
Today, in just a little bit, actually, I'm going to breakfast at a friend's house (he's the 26-year old that I'm after). He came up with the idea, so I figured that's a *good* thing. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to wear yet, but I'm sure I'll find some cute little outfit. :-P
And with that, I should be on my way. I have my gay band rehearsal tonight, and then tomorrow is choir rehearsal, so yay for that! Hope everybody had a more fabulous weekend than I. You kids behave yourselves, and we'll see ya in a couple days.
