OMG! Momma fell!

Ok, so it's not as dramatic as I'm making it out to be, but I have to catch your attention *somehow*....

As I said in my last blog, school today (Wed) was cancelled due to inclement weather, and so I had a lot of free time on my hands. Today, I decided that I had a couple of options: first, I could get fat on pizza or I could brave the elements and try and go to market. I chose the latter.

Before I could even *THINK* about stepping in the car, there was much that had to be done. First, I had to put on my flannel and coat and go outside and dig my car out of it's little fortress of snow. Talk about FUN. Yeah, I'd rather watch straight porn than shovel snow. I guess what I dislike most about shovelling snow is that I'm always scared that I'm going to be like those old people that decide to shovel their walkways and get a heart attack. Yes, I know that I'm only 21, but still, I get paranoid about silly things like that.

So I didn't have a heart attack. Yay for that! But on my way to put the shovel away, Momma took a little tumble on the pavement. :-\ My arm kinda still hurts, but I think I'll be fine tomorrow.

With a little help from one of the neighbors, I managed to get my car out of the driveway and go to the store. I got some basic food items to last me a few days (at least until the weekend), and came back home.

When I got back, I noticed that the guy who lives in that studio apartment above the garage is outside, and he says, "Uh, Michael, when you finish unloading your groceries, I need you to look at something."

"Great," I say, sensing that it could only be something bad.

Turns out that one of the pipes had burst outside. Fabulous. Picture it, we're in the bleak midwinter, probably EVERYBODY'S pipes have burst, and now, so has the house that I'm housesitting at. Wow. Things just couldn't get any better.

My first thought was to turn off the water main. Fine, simple enough. But there's just one problem. Actually, two. First, I don't know where it is. Secondly, where ever it is, it's buried under a foot of snow! Holy hell, Batman! What's a girl to do?

I tried getting a hold of the owner of the house, but I couldn't. I called just about every plumber in the whole damned Metro area and finally got one that'll probably be able to come over tomorrow morning/afternoon. Wish me luck on this one, kids. Momma's on her last nerve.

Oh yeah, and school is cancelled tomorrow, as well.

Best of luck

Best of luck with whatever may come your way.

And was there any insulation around that pipe? I know my dad put some tubing around our water pipe, and I live in Indiana for Pete's sake. And you might be sorer tomorrow since the endorphins, your natural pain-reliever, wear off. Kind of like the feeling you get after strenuous exercise the first time around.

That sucks.

Sorry about your bad luck Mike. I personally hate the snow. I sense you do to. maybe you should come out to some place warm like California.

Think how much more it would have hurt if you didn't have all that, umm, padding to fall onto, though...
