Same ol', same ol'

Hi kids,

It seems that with me, I can either maintain a (somewhat) active presence in the forums or I can post a journal entry consistently--I can't seem to do both! The past few weeks have been rather productive and kinda wild, but overall, I think things in general are getting better. Read on....

First off, the boyfriend and I are doing really well. Even though we live together, we don't get to see each other as much as we both would like. We're busy with school and work, and I have to go to bed early most nights, so we don't have time to go out and do things like we used to. Overall, I think we're OK with that, considering how much money we're saving. :) We may go out tonight to make up for not doing anything on Monday, but we'll see.

We've both been sick lately. There's a nasty little cold going around the household, and I'm just getting over it. He's getting over it as well, but I'm more over it than he is, it seems. The nice thing about being sick is that at least for me, I don't drink at all, and that's positive. I've been on this not-drinking kick for a while, and I'm not sure what's causing it. I mean, you know me, I'm always up for a cocktail, but lately, I've not been craving one. I guess that means I'm not an alcoholic after all, eh?

Work is going pretty well, considering. I've been working a lot of hours, and I think that I'm going to be cutting back just a little bit. The paychecks are nice, but I don't get a chance to spend them as much as I would like to. We're getting a new manager--she'll be my boss--and so I'm a little apprehensive about that. One never knows what to expect from a new boss, but I imagine considering where I work, they will have picked a nice boss for us.

Looks like I'm directing a musical. Crazy, huh? I'm actually directing the pit orchestra, but still, that should be a lot of fun. It's an original musical, and I'm really excited about being a part of it. There's this rather graphic lesbian love song in the middle of it (which kinda grosses me out), but other than that, it's really good. Perhaps all those in the area can come see it when it premiers in June. *hint hint*

I've been getting back into surfing the internet for trumpet geek-type stuff, and I'm diggin' that quite a bit. Listening to sound files online and stuff like that, I realized that I'll never get to where some of those guys are, which kinda puts my mind at ease, to tell you the truth. For those hardcore jazz fans, I just got a new Maynard Ferguson DVD in the mail last night, and it's fantastic! His band is on fire, and so is he. Woo hoo!

I think that's all I have time for today. I've gotta get ready for a voice lesson and then I've gotta go to work. Meh. I hope you all are enjoying yourselves and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. And as always, behave and be nice, so you don't turn out like me. ;)

The joys of musical theatre... I've always been a cast member, and all the musical theatre I've done has been, well, school-based-- both course-work and extra-curricular. I suppose the over-arching goal is: Don't go insane!!!

I also wonder about the too-much-work thing. I go back to the amusement park this spring, and I got promoted. The pay raise is quite low, but I get many more hours, which will lead to overtime and then decent pay! But, it will be summer, and this will take up 35-50 hours of my week. I admit I'm saving up for my future (i.e. moving out), but... It's summer, dammit!!! I want to have fun!

Well, work can be quite fun (it is an amusement park!). Anyway, it's great to hear that you and the boy are doing well together.

Best of luck with everything! (especially the musical. I love musicals-- probably the gayest thing about me. But, I prefer rock musicals, so... I dunno. End ramble.)
