Hello, all, I'm new here and this is a wonderful little-big community. Anyway, I am in the process of writing a partially autobiographical
(sorry for the weird indention, my computer is being weird) play entitled To Have Imagined. One part of the story is the confusion of being
a gay teenager in this crazy world. Much of this is based on my own experience, however, one of the characters is a Conservative
Christian grappling with his sexuality and his faith, and this i cannot write from experience- i am a semi-Atheistic Jew from a liberal
accepting family. As such, i was wondering if any of you have had to grapple with what you were born as versus what your church has taught
OR had dated or known such a person and had observed their conflict. Of course, if you do not feel comfortable saying anything, you by
no means have to say anything. I just would like to know how such a situation truly is, so that my story may be true, and not dramatized
fiction. This is a real issue i'm dealing with! I would like my play to be as realitic as possible. Thank you for any help you can give me!
And thank you to all who are able to speak at all of these forums- it is a bravery that i do not often see in my conservative Texas suburbs
and i sincerely apologize for the bizarre indentions- my computer is being funky.
