A Whirlwind of Craziness

Hi kids,

I decided that there are *finally* enough crazy things happening in life right now to warrant me writing a journal entry. As some of you may know, I've been lurking in the forums, showering them with my pearls of timeless wisdom and endless wit. I think I should have a little more time to start writing with the frequency that I like to, so that might (or might not) be nice. :)

First off, two Sundays ago, I got finished with a fabulous concert that a subgroup of the gay men's chorus put on. It was our annual classical concert, and we had a delightful program of Schubert, Copland, Puccini, Mendelssohn, and others. I think we did very well overall, and everybody was rather pleased. I had a fabulous time performing my little Mendelssohn aria, and I was pretty pleased with that, as well. People were very gracious with their complements, and I even got a recording of the concert, which is nice to listen back to.

Oh my gosh! The new manager at work sucks! And to top it all off, she's friends with the executive chef, so I can't complain to him and tell him how much she sucks. Luckily, I did express my concerns to the BIG boss, so something is going to be done about her. I'd rather not bore you with the details, but let's just say this new manager doesn't think she needs to work when she's at work. Bitch.

While we're on the same topic of work, I've actively started looking for a new job. I'm not getting enough at this job, so I've decided that a new job is in order. As far as waiters are concerned, I'm pretty qualified for just about any job waiting tables in the city, it's just a matter of FINDING the right job. I tell ya, searching for a new job IS a full-time job.

Oddly enough, there's something wrong with the pipes under the kitchen sink here at home, so we're going to have a plumber come and see what the hell is the matter. In the meanwhile, we can't use the washing machine, the kitchen sink, OR the dishwasher. Ack! The dishes are stacking up (after all, this is a household of four), and the plumber is going to be 2.5 hours late. I swear, if things aren't fixed by tonight, my boyfriend and I are going to spend the night in a hotel and let the landlord take care of the bill. I'm thinking the presidential suite at the Hilton. Luxury. Mmmm.

In a historic first, I actually got off of my ass and cleaned my car. Now, I hope you all can understand what a monumental undertaking this was. It hadn't been cleaned for almost a year. Indeed, even at the end of spring term last year when I cleaned out my locker and put everything into my car, I was never able to find the time or desire to clean the back of my car. So the stuff just stayed there. :-P But the car looks all nice and clean now, and later on today I'm going to vacuum the car out, and it'll look ultra-fabulous! And to top it all off, tonight after work, I'm going to a cocktail party at one of my friends' house. How much more fun can you ask for? Free booze, a clean car, and a hot boyfriend. :-D

This year, the gay men's chorus is celebrating our 25th anniversary season with some fantastic concerts! The next one is coming up next week, as a matter of fact, and it's going to be one of those where there shan't be a dry eye in the house at the conclusion of the concert. I'm very much looking forward to that. I think we're going to have a spectacular time doing all of this, and when it's all over, I think that people are truly going to be changed. If you're in the Portland area, consider coming.

That does me for now, kids. I've got a few things to clean up before the plumber gets here. I hope you all are well, and I hope that you all have a nice, scandalous, and safe weekend. :)

Hi Michael,

Thanks for keeping us up to date on all the insanity that comprises your life right now.

Congratulations on the successful concert. And what is the deal with managers not working?! Just remember the Peter Principle: "Every employee rises to his [or her] level of incompetence".

Here's hoping the water stuff gets cleared up,
