If You Want To Read My Book, But Are Afraid...

Anonymous's picture

I posted this elsewhere also, but I want to make sure that everyone sees it.

All right, guys. If any of you cannot buy my book because of either financial or parental issues, send me a private message and I will give you a download code so you can download the book for free. I wrote this book to share, not just to make money.

Now, don't make me regret doing this. Please, please PLEASE - don't ask me for a freebie if you have the means and ability to buy a copy. The download only costs $6.35 in my online store (http://www.patnelsonchilds.com). But if you honestly have no way to buy a copy or a download, and you really want to read it, then don't feel bad about asking. I'm more than happy, under those circumstances, to let you have the e-book for free. I do ask that you please not distribute it to others yourself. If someone else wants to read it, and they're in the same boat you are, let me know and I'll generate another download code for you to give to them. The reason for this is because I want to track, for tax purposes, the number of free copies I give out. I realize that it's probably a losing battle, but I'd like to at least make the attempt.

So go ahead guys - private me your requests. I don't need any information about you, not even your email address, and I don't ask for anything in return (except that you don't spread your free copy around or post it on your website or, well you get the idea). Consider it a belated Christmas gift.

I hope you enjoy reading Orphan's Quest as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Hugs,
Patrick

Sharin the Love of Genre Fiction

Hey! Some of you have already taken me up on the above offer, which is awesome! So don't be shy the rest of you. If you're financially or parentally unable to buy the book, have no fear - just send me a li'l note and I'll be very happy to give you a free download link. You won't owe me a thing except some good ol' fashioned word of mouth. Share your opinion about the book with others on this site and elsewhere. Eventually that buzz will turn into sales for me, so you'll have returned the favor. Also, if you're not in too small and homophobic a town, you could even go to your local library and ask them to order it. That way other poor closeted souls will also benefit. See what I mean, Jellybean?

your book?library comment

I will definitely order it for library use here where I live. We have had 3 teen male suicides due to sexuality in my small town in the past 8 years!

Your librarian can order it

Your librarian can order it from any distributor or, if you want to order one to donate, you can get the best prices from me (at chroniclesoffirma.com) or from Amazon.com (just search Pat Nelson Childs there and you'll find both my books).

Hope they do some good there.

Pat

P.S. Most of the other info on this post is outdated, just so everyone knows. I still give free downloads to any members that PMs me though.

I think I need to say something...

While first coming to Oasis, I saw many-a post about Patrick's book. I basically ignored them, thinking it was another... ammuture work of fiction by an over-eager author. (Sorry, I tend to come to harsh first impressions...) But, not long ago I got bored. Really bored. And, thought, what the hell, I'll the sample chapter because Patrick had been really nice to me and I thought that was the least I could do. I read it. I fell in love. Absolute, weak in the knees, love. I quickly downloaded a copy and have spent the past 3 hours not being able to stop reading. I finally managed to take a break, but it's likely I wont any sleep tonight.

I just feel that I should say this, for any other cynical skeptics out there who aren't willing to give this grand book a try. Seriously. It's amazing. It's not... ammature, or over-eager. It's eloquent, eloborate, and very easy to empathize with. So, step down from your high horse. This is a must read for gay kids, or fantasy fans, and especially both.

Wow

I am touched, flattered and totally overwhelmed. This kind of response to one's work is any writer's dream, and makes it well worth all the hard work that goes into crafting a novel.

Thanks you so much. :-)

I'm Now on Amazon. YAY!

My book is listed now. My first publisher has it on there at the expensive Suggested Retail Price. To get it at the lower price, go to my Amazon Store: http://www.amazon.com/shops/patnelsonchilds . DON'T PAY THAT HIGHER PRICE! It's a total ripoff. Get it from my store. It's not only cheaper, it comes autographed for free. Yay! I'm excited.

You rock, Pat!

Notice I didn't say "slammin". I'm of a generation slightly before yours. Spirituality, or not, keep up the good work, Pat! You've awakened a passion in me that has been long gone, except in small ways. We need to fight for our youth, to pave the way even more than before. Gay, lesbian, transgender, even straight. EVERYONE can learn compassion, kindness, and strength. Belief or no belief, Pat, God is using you for a purpose. God bless you all. HOWIE

Thanks Howie. If I can

Thanks Howie. If I can inspire someone else to want to help young people, that makes me very happy.
