As Promised, Samer's Guild Project For Young GLBTQ Writers Info

Hello Everyone!
Well I said I be back again after the first of the year to hit everyone up for the Samer's Guild Project again, and here I am. I know, it's the first of the year. I'm a little early. So sue me. Anyway, here's a recap of the Samers Guild Project:

The Samers Guild Project is a group of gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, transexual and questioning young people who are coming together to improve their writing skills and to produce a body of work that they then plan to publish. The Project is open to anyone between the ages of 14 and 23 and costs nothing. All you need in order to participate is a computer, an internet connection and a desire to work hard. We are planning to start up the last week of January. We will set a finish date along with some of the other details of the project later, as a group. If you are still in the closet and don't want anyone to know your real name, you may work using a pseudonym (a pen name). Only myself, the project mentor (Pat Nelson Childs), will need to know anything about you, and even the information that you are required to provide to me is minimal. Protecting your safety and privacy is my primary concern. No information you share with me will be shared with anyone else...EVER!

For this project, we are taking a crack at genre fiction, specifically Fantasy or Sci-Fi. If you have never written or even read anything in either of these genres before, don't worry. Most of your fellow writers are in the same boat. The idea is to tackle something new and different. Since these genres are my specialty, I will be helping you to formulate your ideas and carry them out. If you are a poet and have no interest in writing prose, you are still welcome. We will be happy to include poetry in our project so long as it's Sci-Fi or Fantasy related.

Interested? If so, just click on the link below and fill out the short registration form. As I said, it costs nothing and does not obligate you in any way. Once registered, I will e-mail you more information such as how to access our private group site and chat room, and when we will be meeting. If you have questions you'd like answered before registering, you may send me an email at and I will be happy to answer them for you. If you have a problem sending the registration form, just copy the questrions down send me an email answering them.

I hope that lots of you will participate, make some new friends, and have a wonderful rewarding experience!

I'm calling a chat meeting for Saturday, January 20th at 7PM Eastern Standard Time. That gives you nearly three weeks to register, however, I'm going to stop at twenty kids so I'll be able to give each of them plenty of attention, and I already have six, so I wouldn't put it off. Once I get your form, I will send you info on how to access the chat room and the Google Forum. I will be in the chat room from 7-10pm, so if you can't make it at 7 on the dot, you can come in later. This is just a meeting to set up a time table, kick around some ideas and discuss any other questions or details. It's important, but not critical, so don't despair if you absolutely can't make it. Some of you might be in a time zone that makes it impossible for you to come, and I understand this. If you are one of these people, email me and let me know. I'll set up a session just for you or if there's more than one, for all of you.

If you don't make it into this project, don't worry. I will be doing some writing exercises in my forum here on Oasis, and unless this one totally crashes and burns, I'll most likely run another Samers Guild Project next year.

Questions? Private message me or just post them here. I'm happy to answer any and all concerns.

I hope to see your registration forms very soon!

Ok, the tally is up to seven

Ok, the tally is up to seven now, but I know lots of others in here told me they wanted to participate. Did you all change your minds or are you procrastinating?

NOTE: the form will try to email itself to me using the email program on your computer. If you have web-based email, then just copy the questions and your answers into an email and send it to me at Sorry for the inconvenience.

I Know, The Registration Form Sucks

For those who can't get the form to work, here are the questions on it. Please just email me the answers to them. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Name (First will do):
Location (city or state or country):
Gender (M / F / Other):
A Little About You (Just a bit of info about you, your writing, etc):

Also, if anyone knows how to write a scripted registration form that doesn't use email, please can you help me to write and post one? I'm too poor to hire someone, but I'm desperate for a proper webform.

Thanks guys.
