Poem: To A Pale Prince

Anonymous's picture

I'm going to be using this poem in a short story I'm working on, but I couldn't resist sharing it with you guys now, since anybody who has ever crushed on a straight boy or girl (or anyone that didn't return their feelings) should be able to identify with it.

To A Pale Prince

How can I begin
To say what can’t be said?
I feel what can’t be felt
And want what can’t be had.

My head grows full of dreams
That soon are drowned with pain
My hopes reach to the sky
Then fall as evening rain.

What is it that I have?
What is it that I lack
That makes you draw so near
Then pull so swiftly back?

The question taunts my mind;
It burns into my soul.
I come so close it seems,
Yet never reach my goal.

There seems to be no clue,
No answer I can name.
I cannot win your love,
But love you all the same.
