Gay Round-Up with Dan Savage and Stephen Colbert

Great stuff.

Thanks, and if you could post anymore gay roundups that ever come up, that would be awesome.

While Stephen Colbert is mentioned: What do you think Colberts stance on homosexuality is? Its so hard to tell from his show because its a complete parody, and its hard to see his opinion on really anything. On the Colbert Report, he acts super anti-gay (usually with humor attached) so I'm wondering if he ACTUALLY thinks at least some of those things, and is just elaborating them to a comic degree, or if its strictly comedy and he either doesn't mind, or is pro-gay.

He makes fun of things by impersonating them. That's satire.

I think that, if he were anti-gay, he would've taken it farther than his comedy.

"Politely rude. Briskly vague. Firmly uninformative"

I'm not sure about that.

I know its satire what he does. But Stephen Colbert satires just about EVERYTHING, it really seems to mask his actual political stances on things. Because homosexuality isn't the only thing he makes fun of and acts like he doesn't like it, while at the same time staying in the comedy area to not offend people as much.

But you could easily be right. At the moment I can't think of anything that we know he is clearly against because he incorporates comedy into almost everything in his show.

His show directly mirrors

His show directly mirrors the O'reilly Factor but portrays it in a very negative way. We can assume that Colbert is very liberal, therefore not against gay issues.

no way...

Colbert is definitely not homophobic. Seeing his satire for the first time, someone might think he was, but it's just his role-playing character and satire. Seriously, he's had guests on his show to talk about being gay and has ridiculed homophobia, I think he even played a closeted gay teacher in some film or other. There's also a clip on youtube somewhere of him kissing another guy for a skit - three times (which sparked a lot of rumors that he might be gay himself... but I don't think he is). Don't ask me how I found that, but it's there, I swear.

You know Colbert's very liberal. Here's one of my favorite quotes as his (note that the gay reference is in the same light as abortions, democrats, flag-burning... similarly liberal issues):

"Tomorrow you're all gonna wake up in a brave new world. A world where the Constitution gets trampled by an army of terrorists clones created in a stem cell research lab run by homosexual doctors who sterilize their instruments over burning American flags. Where tax-and-spend Democrats take all your hard-earned money and use it to buy electric cars for National Public Radio and teach evolution to illegal immigrants. Oh, and everybody's high!"

That's satire, right there. :)

Oh, I love Stephen Colbert.
