does age matter?

So theres this cute guy where i work, except he's older than me, i'm 17 and he's old enough that it would technically be illegal if anything hppened, not that it would, and i was wondering what everyones opinion was. when i first met him i thought he was 25ish, thats all i will say for his age XD
my parents would be like "NO!" and lock me up probubly, my friends would be like "Cradle robber!" and laugh, and i was wondering what everyones opinion was cause i really like him and he knows i wont let anything happen until i'm 18. did i mention he's cute?

IT DEPENDS..

I USED TO GO OUT WITH A GUY 9 YEARS OLDER THAN ME AND IT WAS ALL COOL.. SURE MY FRIENDS THOUGHT *CRADDLE ROBBER* BUT IT DIDN´T REALLY MATTER TO ME. HE WAS CUTE AND A PERFECT GENTLEMAN, HE INTRODUCED ME TO HIS FRIENDS AND ALL, AND EVEN THOUGH WE DIDN´T ALWAYS AGREE ON OUR HOBBIES WE WERE ALWAYS ABLE TO GET OVER THAT. HE WAS REALLY COOL AND THE ONLY REASON THINGS DIDN´T WORK OUT IS BECAUSE.. I LOVE GIRLS.. SO I THINK YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A TRY...

Well...

Actually, the bigger issue isn't if your parents would punish you, but whether if you did do something while you were still jailbait. It is called jailbait for a reason.

Even if you consent, put a video on YouTube that you want to have sex with him in advance, write journals online saying you're in love and think he's the one, if he's above age of consent and you're below it, it is completely irrelevant if your parents pursued criminal action. Just like whether you want to file charges would be irrelevant, since you're also underage.

He would lose/plead guilty and be considered a sexual predator, having to be listed online so people could see where he lives so their children could be safe, for the rest of his life.

So, be a total tease as much as you want, and on your 18th birthday, do whatever. But, until then, it isn't worth the risk.

EDIT: I just checked, and the age of consent for New Jersey is 16. So, have fun.

Depends.

It's completely mental maturity. If it was a dumb prep girl who doesn't understand half of the crap people say; going on an intelligent older male who doesn't actually care much for the younger teen and is just out for sex, then I'd say that isn't the best thing the two can do. But if it's two people who both have a mature understanding, and feel on equal ground then I think it's right. It's sort of difficult to explain really.

Yeah, it's not the issue of

Yeah, it's not the issue of age, it's more so the fact that, odds are, you are both in different stages in your lives. A difference in that would break up the relationship quicker than anything else.
I dunno..personally I don't see the point in dating someone that is significantly older/younger than you. I guess it could be that the two of you really are meant to be, but it's a guess.
