you are my addiction

disappearcompletely's picture

this poem was written during a really emotion-fueled few minutes and edited very minimally not long afterwards, so i don't know how coherent it is. anyways,

you are my addiction
my coffee & cigarettes
i breathe you and your blood
it runs through my veins
pumping my heart
in rythm with yours

you are what wakes me up in the morning
and what i listen to at night before i go to sleep
you occupy my mind's every moment
and every thought of mine is about
the smell of your hair, the touch of your hands
the way you tremble as my hand caresses the softness
of your back

you are more than my addiction, darling
for with my nicotine i can well part
in hardship, yes, but in do time
forget about my white-fingered fiend
but you, my dear, i cannot live without
shall i not see you, not hear you nor embrace you
never in endless centuries shall i forget your piercing eyes
your gentleness and grace

you are my blood, my air, my water
you are what keeps me alive
but without you, oh love, oh beauty
i have no passion, no will, no wit, no joy

you are my addiction
my coffee & cigarettes
i breathe you and your blood
it runs through my veins
pumping my heart
in rythm with yours
