One of my favorite books, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is available to read for free online all this month. It's not a huge book, and definitely worth your time. Some good lessons here.

Is it a gay story?

I own this book. My dad bought for me for my birthday one year. It looks dreadfully boring, but I plan to read it someday soon. If you recommend it, perhaps I should give it a shot!
You could probably read the whole thing in like 2-3 hours, it's a quick read. Nothing you'd need to put off reading for any stretch of time...
sounds like a pretty good read. I'll have to check it out once I finish the novel I'm reading now. :]

It's a great book. I'll have to re-read it during this month. Thanks, Jeff, for posting this.

Damn! All that is available at the HarperCollins.com address is a teaser. It's not the whole book. (pout)
The post says it was available to read for free for one month. The post was from June 2008. So, you're nearly three years too late for this...
