Hi weird friends (you know you spelled weird wrong, right?) Natile & Megan!
Depending on where you live will depend on if I stalk you XD. But ferrets said you're weird so we'd probably be chill friends :D
Through the mists of my thoughts I remember memories not mine...

But do you know why?

It's because practically every child (around 4th grade) was taught a very defective spelling convention: "i" before "e" except after "c". I think this is now abandoned as there are just too many exceptions...

i before e...

except after c or when sounded like "ay" as in "neighbor" and "weigh" or on weekends or holidays or all throughout May and you'll ALWAYS be wrong no matter what you say!

...I forget where I heard that one, but it's quite true. :-)

A Useful Addition...

This expansion of the original "rule" was added early last century, but it's the first part that is typically remembered. It's noteworthy that UK schools recommended (this year) that the "rule" no longer be taught.

I'm ignorant of its current position in U.S. schools.
