Gah!

I especially love how the Portland diocese has been passing around collection baskets for donations to the "Yes on 1" campaign in Maine. It just seems like this is California all over again, except with Catholics instead of Mormons. So far, the Diocese has donated more than 270K. Granted this is far less than the amount the Mormons donated in California, but Maine is also a far smaller state.

I really don't want to see another California happen in New England... I really don't! It's bad enough that Rhode Island hasn't passed it with 92% of its House and 87% of its house being democratic. However, Rhode Island is well... Pretty much just a bunch of Portuguese Roman Catholics. So it's not surprising.

But I have hope for Maine.

I just wish states would ditch this whole ballot initiative crap. It's incredibly flawed. You don't allow the majority to decide the rights of the minority. It's as simple as that.

Silly Catholics..

Because I'm a gay Catholic I've been doing some research.

Most of the LGBT catholic community is working for equality in the religion.

Alas we all know that Roman Catholicism doesn't like to change. Lol.

But anywho, good luck to Maine!

said it! "I just wish states would ditch this whole ballot initiative crap. It's incredibly flawed. You don't allow the majority to decide the rights of the minority. It's as simple as that." I wholeheartedly concur, it's ridiculous. Of course many don't see it that way, they just vote based on their own righteous version of morality and decide to legally play a hand in denying equal rights to a minority. Rights that don't affect straight people, yet they have the power to take them away.

But I have hope for Maine to...well I try to. I think it's looking up though, compared to CA. Equality seems to have made progress in the states that don't stand out as much in the political/religious debate over LGBT equal rights. So, I hope for hope.

If I Could Vote...

it would be a resounding NO! But, alas, I don't reside in Maine. But I agree; this ballot initiative thingie is for the birds...
