so (in th U.S. at least) a teen can get rgisterred as a sex offender for sexting? do you think its fiar?
That sounds wrong, are you sure you're not leaving some important detail out?
"People who are happy are slugs... They do not move the human race forward."
-- Camille Paglia, on Oasis
what detial is that?
experince the awe and mystery that reaches from the deepest inner mind to the outer limits!
there'd need to be more, a 19 y/o sexting someone underage, or something more to it. A 14 y/o sexting another 14 y/o seems like there'd be less of an issue.
two underaged ppl sexting can have the same consuecuences
You do NOT want to hear what I have to say about sexting.
I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.
Can you tell us seductively using 160 characters?
Why 160 characters?
that is the limit for a text message.
There have been cases of teens/preteens having to register as sex offenders because they shared...scandalous...photos through texting. The person who sent it can be charged with producing child pornography, and the person who received it can be charged with possessing it. Regardless of age. It's kinda ridiculous. (Not that I think sexting is a brilliant idea to begin with...)
that's messed up. i think they should distinguish an individual's private matter from someone who can actuall potentially harm another person
ineffective and prosecuting the wrong people
no way. I think there was a Law and Order episode about that, some teenager sent naked pictures of herself and got charged with distributing child pornography. Ahh, SVU. But they should just be whatever about it. Like, if someone's sexting someone and harassing them then yeah.
although i have never engaged in sexting, i knew kids who were doing it before there wass even a term for it. i think that it is that person's private matter, regardless of age. while i dont think pushign someone into sexting is ok, i think it is a choice both individuals engage in of their free will.
charging the parents of the kid seems a litterl outrageous though. im just saying. parents cant know all that their teens are doing or see every message they send. its impossible.

I wish that they would not make any laws that are for situations where it is an individual or multiple people consenting to do some act that doesn't negatively affect anyone else.
I think that drugs should be legalized. Even if they weren't hurting anyone else, do they really deserve jail for ruining their life on meth? Or does society deserve to pay for them being in jail, when they could be contributing to society much more? (There could be as much as half of people in prison there for non-violent drug offenses.)
If you're going through hell, keep going. ~Winston Churchill
By collecting welfare and medicaid?
Gee! That's an AWESOME contribution.
I do agree with the thought, however. The United States has 23% of the global incarcerated population, while we only have 3% of the global population in our borders.
And here comes Vermont on the sanity-wagon:
I think that we should legalize drugs, but do it slowly so people don't got more nuts than they already are. I am also not in favor of a minimum drinking age.
Because we need more drunk three year olds.
It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed.
-Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
I think parents who'd let their 3 year olds drink aren't concerned about the current law anyway.
Do you see a lot of toasty tots in France and the rest of Europe?
You think that parents are going to let their three year olds drink?
