*rolls eyes* You don't count!

I am now extremely proud of myself for thinking as I was typing, 'Jeff is going to immediately say 'I knew about it before it existed'. I predicted the future, WOOT WOOT. Sorry, I must brag. Hehe.

I don't think it is too hard to predict what I will say much of the time...

This case wasn't inappropriate or dirty, though, which is the usual safe bet.

I would answer but...

It was like.. 5 years ago. I have no recollection of lurking, but I can't safely say whether I did or didn't. XD;

There's a notable discrepancy (of nearly a year actually!) between my join date and my oldest post. But I can't say whether that was due to lurking, or forgetting about the site, or my older posts being deleted or what. Haha.

There was...

a different version of Oasis, on a different software, that apparently needed someone watching the software more diligently than I was, so that crashed, taking everything with it.

That would explain it then

That would explain it then wouldn't it?

Ohman that was a long time ago, the site looked totally different then.

that's tragic. :(

i knew of this place through a very old web page, i'd visited here before and looked at what people wrote, and i felt like i could belong in this place.
Oasis Journals was the last push to ditch my (2nd) Live Journal account and join a site where things i wrote would be read by people. i have never regretted the decision. :)

Um um um.

It's been way too long since I joined to remember my lurky-times.

I honestly have no idea; probably a couple months, actually, that's my wager.

I had read (in a book, of all things, on paper) about OutProud... a few days (I don't know, maybe more than that) later, I typed outproud into the ... you know, that bar, at the top of the window? ... and was redirected here. I was confused at first, 'cause this said Oasis and not OutProud, but then I read a couple of recent journals (the one I remember was BBNiNi, she was covered in blue dye - that seems to have been her last post here...) and then joined. I'm curious to know how the rest of you found out it existed - like I said, I got it from a book.

As for lurking

I don't remember. I don't think so. While searching the internet for answers to my soul, I came across OutProud. Looked over it a few days, then it went under.
I went there, and it said they were gone. I was sad. Just as I was starting to figure something out, damn.
But then I remembered I'd come across a place calles www.oasisjournals.com. So I went there instead, and looked it over, tried to join immediately, but back then the join thingy didn't work, so I saw that email Jeff thing, and had him make my acccount, thanks very much Jeff!
So I knew about the site for a few days, before I looked anything over except a brief glance, then after OutProud went down I came here and tried to join as soon as I could, but it was a few days before I actually had an account.
Does that count as lurking?

I was on the msn search

I was on the msn search engine before it became bing and typed in lgbt teens. Oasis was the first thong that popped up. I read some stuff, lurked, forgot about it, remembered it, read some forums and joined. Boring, I know.

You're so beautiful, you made me forget my pick up line. ;)

A few months...

I remember finding this place during the start of my "questioning" phase. Unfortunately a game thread titled "I slept with a dog cuz I'm cool like that" happened to be at the top of the forum, and I didn't realize it was a game thread at the time, so it was a while before I stuck around long enough to read anything! :-)

Eventually I figured out that Oasis is not, in fact, creepy (Jeff's efforts not withstanding) and that it was one of the only sites I'd found that had actual gay kids actually talking. So I signed up, and have been floating in and out ever since.
