Who is your Hero

Ask Tell Deceive's picture

I'm curious to know, who do you look up to?

As for myself, I have three heroes. Rabbi Hillel is one, for sure. The next, Harvey Milk. The third is Nelson Mandela.

As a side note, my favorite philosopher and a man I look up to greatly is Soren Kierkegaard. (I don't have the keyboard that has the right letter to replace the o in Soren.)

Marilyn Manson

I don't want to type the rant I usually give people about Marilyn Manson, so here's the condensed version. This guy is exactly what he wants to be, who he is, and he's damn proud of it. He's smart, despite what others think, and he sees things that everyone else prefers to look over. He has the courage that I want to achive. That's why I look up to him as my role model.

Weird...

Was just talking about him tonight during an interview I did for Oasis, heh. I used to hang out with him all the time on his first tour, for reasons that will be mentioned when I post the interview, heh.

Well...

Met would be an understatement. I hung out with him and the entire original band backstage a handful of times, interviewed him twice, so yeah, safe to say I met him, heh.

Actually...

He even invited me to their backstage "end of tour" party when they were opening up for Nine Inch Nails. So, after the show, I go backstage, and they say there is no party, so I figured I got dissed.

It turned out that when the band came offstage, Trent had them all kidnapped in their stage gear (which is nearly naked when they got off stage), in winter, and dumped a few miles from the arena with no money, to see if they could find a way back. They did, but the party got canceled because of all that. I don't know if that story is widely known, although it may have been in one of my interviews.

Actually, it's in the transcript I posted online: http://www.jeffwalsh.com/2003/02/22/marilyn-manson-transcript/

Super. Monkey. Crap. You

Super. Monkey. Crap.
You don't know how jelous I am right now. No joke haha. He's literally my idol, I have a few of quotes by him hanging on my bedroom wall so I can wake up and read them and remind myself why I'm fighting for who I am and what I believe in so hard. It's so easy to just give up, you know? But I want to show the world that I can push back and that's sort of what MM is to me haha.
But yeah I don't think anyone knows that story....I haven't heard it before, at least. It made me start laughing in real life when I read that haha

As for Nelson Mandela...

Say what you want about prison rehabilitation, but he's never re-offended since he was released.

My heros

My heros are One :
A old man named Gus Ihde, taught me that there is a smile in every thing that happens in life, and to never loose mine.
Two:
Fred Green, my good friend in Vietnam war. Stepped on a land mine and died in my arms. His last word said to me were, "Tell me that there's a heaven Bob, tell me there's a heaven, I don't want to die." He taught me humanity, humility, and life.
Three:
Ms Sharon Zicheck, My 12th grade English teacher. She had Cerebral Paulsie yet she showed me that regardless of how many hard things life tosses at you, you can pick yourself up and keep on going. That Life is going to be hard but only as hard as you let it be.

These three persons taught me that no matter what happens to me, life will continue, when it hits you hard, start over and keep going. Smile and the world will smile with you. Cry and it crys along side you too.

Live life people to the fullest.
