Hope (poem)

Ask Tell Deceive's picture

Cold,
cold,
is there any hope
for
this thing
of unspeakable pain?
Black,
black,
there is no going back
to
the place
where I played as a child.
Love,
love,
the thing that flies above
like
a crow
mocking those below.
Peace,
O peace,
I cannot find release;
in
this world
there's no haven for this girl.
Bye,
good-bye,
I cannot live this lie;
but when
I tried,
my life was justified.
Hope,
hope,
climbing such a steep slope
as
healing
the pain bites and stings.
Now,
now,
I think that I see how
I
can live
in this world that I was given.

"A loving man and woman in a committed relationship can marry. Dogs, no matter what their relationship, are not allowed to marry. How should society treat gays and lesbians in committed relationships? As dogs or as humans?"
