Last night was one of those times when I really wished I had queer or queer-friendly friends on Xbox LIVE. I logged into Xbox LIVE last night and immediately my youngest nephew (he's 10) invited me to his chat, so I accepted not noticing that it wasn't a private chat and he, in fact, has a bunch of his friends in the chat.
At some point they go down the usual route of throwing out, 'That's so gay' and 'No homo' in their conversations and I'm SO wanting to say something, but at that point my nephew had left the chat and I felt it would be a little awkward... so I left the chat and looked to the floor in shame. hah.
If I had SOMEONE there I would've said something. Like do a back and forth of me saying, "[Friend's name], I love you! No hetero." If the friend was a girl, then do something like, "You know, [Friend's name], I love Hugh Jackman. No hetero." and she could've come back with her own version.
Or I could've looked into their gaming history and if any of them had Assassin's Creed 2 in it, I could've pointed out that that kick ass son of a bitch Leonardo da Vinci was a big old homo!
Not that any of this would've likely accomplished anything, but maybe, just maybe it would've got them to stop and think about what they were saying for a minute.
