Back from Vacation

I'm back from Hawaii now. My family all went on a summer trip because they like tropical places...in all honesty, I wasn't too excited since I don't really like warm weather. Anyway. My dog died while we were away though. :( He'd been sick for a while but he'd been getting better so it was kind of unexpected. I don't know if you guys remember but back in June he got really sick with some type of immuno-deficiency disease and his platlette count plummeted and it was pretty certain that he wasn't going to make it but then he improved and got to come home from the hospital. We sort of knew that he was never going to make a full recovery but still... What really sucks though is that we weren't even with him when he died; the second day we were in Hawaii his pancreas started failing and rather than have him suffer the vet said it would be better to put him to sleep. I'm going to miss him, we've had him for as long as I can remember (he was 8). It'll be strangely quiet around the house.

Not much else has happened, since I've only been home and school hasn't started yet. I got my schedule at registration yesterday and I got all of the classes I wanted, although I might decide to change Ecology to Physics because it's probably more useful, and I could learn ecology on my own. I'm also taking AP English, Japanese, French, AP Art (again. got to get my portfolio well done for college applications), Creative Writing (but it's only a semester long class, and 2nd semester at that) and then I have to take Health. Really it's the fourth time I'll be learning what they teach us in that class, I don't know why they bother.

And all of my friends are off at college now, except for one. He starts the same day I go back to school. I don't know who I can talk to this year. All my friends have graduated, and I mean, I have some accquaintances but school will feel really empty without them.

Love Hawaii!

When I move to the East Coast, I wonder if I'll get there as much. Right now, it's sort of my default between-jobs, unplanned vacation place...

I've only done Oahu and Maui so far...

We were on Maui in

We were on Maui in Ka'anapali.
Kind of irrelevant maybe, but I'd never paid attention to the cost of grocceries there before, and geez, it's so much more expensive than back home.

Yeah...

I was a mile or two north of Ka'anapali. Well, I saved a lot of money by going to the farmer's market on Saturday, you get the locally grown stuff much cheaper than everything that is flown/shipped in. but I'm so used to Whole Foods, the costs sort of seemed the same, hehehe.
