I love Hallowe'en

MacAvity's picture

Hello. I'm the Doctor.

The younger one. The older one? The handsome one! The, er, the less geeky one?
The one on the left. Your left, I mean, his right. My right. I am he and he is me and all that, coo coo k'choo.
The one with the specs and the banana. Bananas are good.

He's got the better screwdriver, though, the one that's actually sonic, even if it is a bit too... green. I thought mine was better because it's actually rather good at driving screws, but it turns out his can do that too. Mine's just a screwdriver someone picked up at a biotechnology conference, says 'Abpro' on it.

Does come in handy as a flashlight, though. And a spirit level. And a screwdriver, o'course. And I suppose it's sonic if you tap it on something.

Oh, and this......

I'm rather proud of my costume, too, 'specially the shoes. None of the thrift stores in town had any Converse at all, so I made some out of an old pair of low-topped white Reeboks, look -

And this evening, I, and a dancing Dalek, and a flapper named Regi and her boyfriend Al Capone, and some sort of elf person, Link, took a foreign-exchange Mexican out trick-or-treating for the first time! Hallowe'en's brilliant. I love Hallowe'en.

And for some mysterious reason I've been covered in girls all weekend.....

(Breaking character for a moment...)

Check out the pumpkins my family and I carved yesterday!

Mine's the second from the left, but I think the coolest is the Coliseum - that was my brother's idea, although I drew it for him. His idea and he carved it, credit goes to him.

Is it just my Mac?

I'm not seeing the pics... just rectangular boxes with a centered "?"...

Were you able to see them when you clicked on "Preview" prior to posting?

MacAvity's picture

I did Preview, and I could see them, and then after seeing your comment I logged out of Oasis and Google just in case it was something about me being logged in, but I could still see them.....

Here, I'll try this - I'll re-post the jack-o'lanterns picture using the less easy but possibly more reliable way I know..... see if you can see that but not the others.

That post is now visible... the others remain just rectangular boxes with centered "?"

There should be no correlation between your operating system and whether something appears on a web page, unless you're on an iPhone/iPad and you're trying to see Flash content.

Who's in the red bow tie?

Get him on Oasis so I can harass him...

Yeah, he's pretty, I noticed! He's straight, though....

Good one... quite clever circumlocution; I'll have to remember that one. :)

Are the 2nd and 4th pics complete?

The bottom half of both shows only gray.

The 1st and 3rd, however, are great!

And those jack-o-lanterns must have taken prodigious effort (and dedication)!

btw. That banana... its primary purpose is for human consumption... or, is that only incidental?

MacAvity's picture

The pictures should all be okay now...
The pumpkins weren't that difficult, really. Each person in my family did one, and we had them all done in maybe an hour, not counting the time it took to hollow them out. It was fun, though, because my dad lives three hours' drive away from my mom, and my brother was visiting him for the weekend, so we all met halfway between and found some flat rocks by the side of the road and carved pumpkins there.
Not sure what you mean about the banana.... I guess its primary purpose is as an accessory, same as the screwdriver and the psychic paper. And its secondary purpose is for Time Lord consumption, not human.

Nope... Sorry!

#2 and #4 continue to show missing bottom halves.

About the banana... no more questions. I'm happy...

All the pics...

are showing up for me. And I'm on a Mac. ;-)

That's odd...

Let me reboot and see if things change!

OK... I totally rebooted my 27" iMac, logged in anew to Oasis,... and I find the bottom half of #2 and #4 continue to show only gray!

However... My Mac laptop hasn't been on for ages. I went to this same page on the laptop, logged in... Here's what I observed: Pictures #1 and #3 loaded immediately. But pictures #2 and #4 loaded extremely laboriously (took at least a full minute)... but, they did appear in their entirety on the laptop!

So... I'm left in a quandary! #2 and #4 refuse to complete on 27" iMac... but they do eventually appear on the laptop!

Supposedly, both Macs are kept fully updated.

That's it... for now :(

Further update - 3 hours later.

I emptied the cache on the iMac and rebooted.

All pics now load! But, I'm obliged to note that the server supplying the pics is abysmally slow!
