So things went well on Christmas, around three o'clock that day i got a text from the guy i went to coffee with a few weeks back. I don't know how he'd feel about me just giving out his name willy nilly so lets call him James since his name starts with the same letter.
So i met James at a local park on noon the day of New Year's eve. He spotted me and instantly had this bright little smile on his face. I noticed he was wearing the scarf around his neck, tied on with the fashion-wise style and class of someone who truly cares about how he looks. The meeting went somewhat like this:
"Howdy, James. You're taking a shine to that scarf i see. Anyone notice the old one's ruined?"
"Not yet, cowboy. (he calls me that in a tease, gets a kick out of it i guess) It's not ruined anyway, the stain came out just fine...i just like this one a little more than the old one."
"Is that so? I would've thought someone so keen on learning the riddles and poetry of the past would be set on keeping the old and reserving the new."
"And who are you to be judging someone on a first date?"
(I knew he wasn't upset when he said this because of his tone and the smile still playing on the corners of his mouth.)
"I'm a guy who knows something good when he sees it...and right now all i see is someone with a poet's tongue and an angel's smile."
"...who you calling a poet, cowboy?"
The rest of the day was spent either looking through stores at things we'd never have enough money to buy, eating small things like a doughnut here and a candy there. We stopped into a candy shop he apparently knew the owner of, and we ate rock candy. It was my first experience, and i wanted to just enjoy it. But once i had a piece in my mouth, he kissed my cheek and i crunched into it. He laughed about this for quite a while.
At the drop of the ball he looked to me and asked:
"I know you've got a kiss for me somewhere in that big heart of yours. Question is, how many pretty-please's to i have to add before you give me one."
Now how the hell am i supposed to turn away a cute little request like that?
I haven't had a kiss in a long time, but this was beautiful. I had to lean down, but it was cute how he was on his tippy toes when we broke.
Around one o'clock i decided it would be best if i headed home, so i gave his hand a squeeze and a peck on the cheek goodbye at the bus stop and rode off towards home.
I haven't dated in a long time, so i really don't know what a 'magical evening' consists of...but i'm willing to bet that this was pretty close.
I have his number, and will call him later today to set up another date.
Wish me luck, alright?
