Hi there. I'm Ann. Nice to meet you. I've been, I guess it'd be called lurking on here for a while. My mom read extensively internet predators so she made sure I knew of the dangers of the internet, but I ended up scared of what would happen if I joined a site. I've gotten computer viruses before, so, I was afraid that would happen. And I'm in the closet, the bi closet, so there's that fear that anyone will find out. But I could really use some support right now, and I'm going to be eighteen in less than a year, so I figured what the heck. And I'm changing names and stuff just in case (I'm starting to wonder if I'm paranoid...).
So, yeah, nice finally join! Really nervous, just sayin'. Anyways, I love to read, it's almost of an obsession really. I love Shakespeare, and I'm in a really small teen Shakespeare group, in which we're doing Much Ado About Nothing. Because of the small cast we have multiple roles, I'm playing Don Pedro (or I guess Donna Pedra?), Ursula, and Dogberry. I'm also part of a larger teen musical theater group. We're doing a Vaudeville style show for the spring. There are some group dance numbers, but each of us is doing one or two solo acts that we come up with ourselves. I'm doing devilsticks, or technically flowersticks. That's where I have one stick in each hand and a third stick I do tricks. It's a type of juggling. And I'm going to try Puttin' On The Ritz By Ella Fitzgerald, but I don't know how well I can sing, so we'll see how that goes. OH, and I play guitar. I always forget to tell people that.
I have a major crush on my best friend Beth, even though I'm pretty sure she's straight. Plus I think her parents are homophobic, which means she's probably homophobic, so...yeah, my heart's an idiot, haha.
Anyhow, that's me, mostly. Hope to get to know you all.

Welcome aboard... glad you finally uncloaked.

If you stick to Name, City, State and don't drill down any further like mentioning the name of a school play or something, it's nearly impossible to attract predators, or the ones you do attract won't be able to find you... ;-)

There's not too much to be paranoid about, really. You're presumably going to college next year, where a good chunk of people will be bisexual as freshman, even if the percentage shrinks by senior year.

As for Beth, well... straight is a problem, but I don't see why any younger person today would necessarily be homophobic just because their parents are. When she was younger, sure, but by now, one imagines she'd be a little more open to things, even if she is still straight, no?

So, good that you vagged up and joined the site, and hopefully you find support and good people on here.

Internet safety was a concern for me when I was considering joining this site as well, but this place pretty much lives up to its name. It's an internet oasis. So yeah, you're safe here, and among friends.

Also, homophobic parents don't always raise homophobic kids. I have several friends who are totally accepting of me and have less-than-open-minded parents. And if she's a good friend, it won't bother her one bit.

So yeah. No need to be nervous. Make yourself comfortable here. I look forward to reading more from you.

I think you'll be just fine here, but don't give out too much personal info.

LostSouls are four gay friends-Alex, Dalton, Chase, & Jake-who ended up being stepbrothers by dumb luck. We are also a support group for four other gay kids who have to keep their sexuality a secret. We live in the Bible Belt, which explains a lot.
