We had a block party today. I planned out a ton of carnival games and prizes but all the kids wanted to do was bounce in the bouncy castle. However, I had a trick up my sleeve...I am an extremely talented makeup artist. So I sat down, drew up a second chair, broke out the face paint and soon every one of those kiddos had an MJoy masterpiece on their face. I did 1 cheetah, 2 cats, 3 patriotic butterflies, 1 dolphin, 2 flowers, 2 moustaches (1 w/ matching goatee), 1 Spiderman, and 1 Yoda (an adorable little kid who also got an R2-D2 on his arm). They looked pretty cute running around like that. :)
I also started putting out my name as a babysitter, so I hope to make some money off of that. This one really nice Russian lady talked to me while her son (we'll call him Yoda) climbed on chairs and even gave me a hug! He was the most adorable little boy and his sister "Kitty" is in to all the same toys and games that I was at her age. Apparently the woman told my mom that she "never lets ANYONE watch [Yoda], but Maddie has the secret." That's $12/hour that I will really need because...
I'M GOING TO LONDON!!!!!!!!
That's right, this November my dad is flying me to London for a weekend just so that I can go to the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary celebration. I had to give up my Sweet 16, and I have to pay for our Deluxe TARDIS Tickets ($290 altogether) myself, and I'll miss my mom's birthday, but it's worth it.
Matt Smith is confirmed, so I'll either get an autograph or a photo with him. And I'm hoping that David Tennant shows up, because then I can use my dad's single reservation to get a photo with him. Each guest only gets 1 autograph or photo, so I would have to cheat to get Matt & David (or, as I call him, my husband). Of course, there may also be companions present in which case my whole game plan changes...
My dad just came in to look at hotels and schedules. He's almost as freaked as I am and he doesn't even watch DW. I am SO psyched. Now I just need to make more than $300 in less than 5 months. And put together a costume. And figure out how to fit PJs, the costume, and extra clothes in a backpack with my dad's PJs & extra clothes. And plan my intimate birthday get-together in such a way that it will be as awesome as a huge Sweet 16. I think it's doable :)
For any other Whovians out there who may be in the Heathrow area this November, here's the link: http://celebration.doctorwho.tv/tickets
But don't buy all the tickets; I need some ;)
