I'm happy you're reading this. For a while, it seemed like there wasn't going to be a July Oasis.
As some of you may know, I recently moved from Pennsylvania to San Francisco. I had anticipated moving into an apartment, getting my computer set up and everything falling into place within a week. Little did I know that San Francisco has a less than one percent vacancy rate. I spent over two weeks spending every day looking for an apartment, and only found one in the last week of June.
Then, I had my computer on the floor with no desk, and as much as I like doing this, I'm not a contortionist enough to find a position which made this method of computing comfortable.
But, I eventually bought a desk, hurried up and put an issue together for you. Unfortunately, I couldn't hook up with any of the Profiles in Courage subjects I had planned, so there's no new Profile this month. Sorry. But, the cover story is pretty cool with Roddy Bottum of Faith No More. His new band, Imperial Teen, has been playing constantly on my CD player and I highly recommend it.
Just a note that if anyone has previously e-mailed me, my e-mail address of firstname.lastname@example.org is now extinct. Please use email@example.com.
Not much to say, I've been too busy to have any organized thoughts about Oasis for right now. Now that summer is here, I would encourage everyone who told me their schoolwork takes up too much of their time to write for Oasis to sit down now and put an article together. Oasis isn't a static magazine with paid writers, it has to be interactive. Share your life, and help other people with theirs in the process. That's what it's all about. So, send in those coming out stories, funny stories, fiction, poetry, columns, opinion pieces and we'll be happy to include them in our August issue.
