"Young, Loud & Proud" will be the largest gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth conference in Northern California with over 300 youth expected to attend. Some of the youth are coming from as far away as Washington DC, Texas, Kansas, New York and parts of Canada.
"There are thousands of youth out there that are ready to become leaders within their community," said Kelly Bridge, one of the conference spokespersons.
The conference, which is organized by and for youth 25 and under will be held at the Marina Middle School in San Francisco. The conference is free for all youth.
There will be workshops, caucuses, artistic opportunities, shows and a dance. Most of the activities will be led by young people. The workshops will focus on advocacy, coming out, health, homelessness and a spectrum of other issues.
Young, Loud & Proud is a special project of LYRIC, the Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center.
