The National Freedom to Marry Coalition has launched its official homepage on the World Wide Web, providing visitors with a comprehensive history of the issue, current events, involvement opportunities and a national grassroots directory providing up-to-date information on the status of marriage for same-gender couples in all 50 states. The home page address is http://www.ftm.org.
"The Freedom to Marry home page will be a tremendous resource for anyone who wants to learn more about this cause and become involved in the struggle for equal marriage rights," said Evan Wolfson, Director of Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund's Marriage Project. "In grassroots efforts such as this, it's important that individuals have easy access to this kind of information. We hope this website makes it possible for more people to get involved and speak out on this cause."
Visitors to the website will find extensive information on marriage for same-gender couples, including current information on Baehr v. Miike, the Hawaii case expected to legalize marriage for same-gender couples in that state. The website also provides answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about the issue, in addition to a section instructing web browsers on how they can personally take action. Other features of the website include a convenient directory for individuals wanting to monitor same-gender marriage developments in all 50 states and a section where browsers can sign the marriage resolution.
The National Freedom to Marry Coalition is an unprecedented coalition of national, state and local organizations formed to educate the public and encourage support for same-gender marriage.
