Two Poems by Scott Chalupa

Soul Sister

Soft flames licking

at the airÉ

Firelight warming the

souls surrounding

the peaceful atmosphere;

Songs spill from the

crackling wood while

sparks dance to its

hypnotic rap-tap-tapping

rhythm;

Bullknitters weaving winter-coats

talkatively table-bare their souls;

While I watch the cars

wizz by on Westheimer,

surrounded by friends;

And look at him-

and chuckle aloud-

because he always

makes me laugh.

Unhealthy Wardrobe

Silky, smooth,

Sliding sleeves effortlessly over your armsÉ your tricking jacket, full of disowned-royal purple with that latex lining and gorgeous red trimÉ

Do you wear it on those late nights out?

Do you ever take it off at the bedside?

Do you ever take it off when you're alone?

ARE YOU REALLY NAKED UNDER THERE?
