Still Waters

I am a well
Moss-lined, garbed in stone
I sink into the earth's unforgiving flesh
And draw sun-shaded moisture to my lips
Let the cold wash over your teeth.
It is not another birth
I am not another life
But I will pacify your thirst
And offer a moment's rest
From the memory of wine
