Review: A Boy's Own Story by Edmund White

A Boy's Own Story was an excellent story written in the point of view of a questioning youth during a time when homosexuality what practically unheard of, and coming out was beyond belief. It goes through much of the tough parts of the life of this teen in growing up and dealing with homophobia, and self-hatred, and combines it brilliantly with humour and sensuous writing. At only just over 200 pages, this book shouldn't be a problem to read, and will really give you (anyone, gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) an insight on the life of a queer boy in an unaccepting society.
